West Michigan Labor Day Parade

Join West Michigan United Labor for the Labor Day Parade! 

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

You are invited to join us in supporting and attending this year’s Labor Day Workers United Parade and Celebration on Monday, September 4th, 2023. This event will feature the parade down Western Avenue in Muskegon, a toy giveaway for children, games, a shoe giveaway, and more! 

Parade starts at 11am on the corner of 4th and Western Ave, heads east to Jefferson Street, turns right onto Clay Ave, and ends at 4th Street.

Labor Day Parade Description

Parade Participant Info:

The line-ups will fill the parking lot located on the corner of 5th and Western Ave, along 5th Street (if needed), and down Western Ave. The placement of participants is based on the receiving order of returned applications.

We plan to Step off at 11:00 a.m. from 4th Street and Western Avenue and march north along Western to Jefferson Street, where we will turn right onto Jefferson. We will then take another right onto Clay Avenue where we will continue to march until we reach 4th Street (so basically, one big rectangle). The post-celebration will be held at Hackley Park (350 W. Webster Ave. Muskegon, MI 49443-9999). 

The post-celebration is intended for all Labor members with their families, and anyone from the community who wants to join the celebration. We will have tents, small portable canopies, picnic tables, games and activities, and more!

More details for you to note:

  • This year we have joined in an effort to support struggling working families. Please consider joining us!
  • We plan to have music, raffles, prizes, bounce houses, various games, face painting, balloons, arts and crafts, and many other activities set up for families (All FREE!).
  • We will be having Dr. Rolfs cater our event for all pre-purchased meal tickets, along with multiple other food vendors that will be providing food options and refreshments for cash or credit on-site.
  • Portable restrooms and hand washing stations will be provided on-site.
  • Many volunteers will have walkie-talkies. If you need anything, please ask someone with a bright-colored vest.
  • Please remember to hand out candy, do not throw candy
  • Have fun!
