The Inclusion Exchange Series

Join us for The Inclusion Exchange, a free, quarterly speaker series in partnership with the Grand Rapids LGBTQ+ Healthcare Consortium. Together, we’ll explore practical, people-centered strategies for building inclusive, affirming environments across our workplaces, organizations, and communities.

Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding, strengthen your workplace culture, or support your neighbors more thoughtfully — you’re welcome at this table.

Session Details (All sessions are Wednesdays, 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM):

  • June 25 – The Triple A’s: Ally, Advocate, Accomplice - Learn how these roles show up in everyday life, and how you can move between them to best support the LGBTQ+ community.
  • October 15 – Respect is the Default - Gain tools for navigating respectful conversations around polarizing or sensitive topics — and staying grounded in empathy.

  • January 28 – Power of Pronouns: A Business Case - Explore how inclusive language and affirming practices in the workplace positively impact team culture and the bottom line.

  • April 1 – The Affirming Care Environment - Learn how to provide client-centered, affirming care to all people, regardless of identity or background.

Business & Organization Designation Opportunity:

Participants who attend all four sessions of The Inclusion Exchange will be eligible to receive a Safe Spaces Designation from the Grand Rapids LGBTQ+ Healthcare Consortium.

This designation is more than just a symbol — it represents a public commitment to creating affirming, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals in your workplace, organization, or community setting.

Why It Matters for Businesses and Organizations:

  • Builds Trust with Employees and Clients: Being visibly inclusive helps foster a workplace where team members feel safe, respected, and valued — which leads to better morale, productivity, and retention.

  • Demonstrates Leadership: The designation signals your organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in action, not just in words.

  • Enhances Reputation: In a time when consumers and clients care deeply about company values, this recognition shows your business is taking real steps to support LGBTQ+ individuals.

  • Provides Visibility: Designated businesses and organizations may receive a certificate, window decal, or digital badge for display — a visible message that your space is safe, welcoming, and affirming.

  • Opens Doors to Further DEI Growth: The Safe Spaces Designation can be a stepping stone to deeper internal learning, staff development, and community partnerships.
