The next time you are in our office, make sure to stop by our new Chief Development Officer, J.J. Lewis!
A note from J.J.:
It is truly an honor to be joining the United Way of the Lakeshore family, and Living United with an amazing team who all care so deeply about the Lakeshore. As a proud Michigander, I am excited to be returning to Pure Michigan after seven years in California and taking the helm of fundraising initiatives as the inaugural Chief Development Officer for the United Way of the Lakeshore. My background is centered around nonprofit management and bringing passions to life. What I mean is – listening to the community, and helping members of the community drive positive change and create lasting positive impact through philanthropic giving.
A little about me – I was born and raised in Michigan, and attended Central Michigan University (Fire UP, Chips) as an undergrad. My degree is in history (my passion is European history) and political science. I’ve lived in Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Michigan again, California, and Michigan yet again; all stops which have helped shape the servant leader I am today. I firmly believe in giving back, with whatever we have to give … time, talent, and tithe. I strive to be active in the community and look forward to getting involved in all that the Lakeshore has to offer. My partner and I live in Laketon Township with our three dogs (Arya, Diego and Tiberius) and cat (Armani). I have a niece and two nephews who live in Hamburg, and my parents still live in my hometown of Howell.
I look forward to getting to know our donors and volunteers over the next several months and working together to positively impact Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties and all who call this great region home. I can be reached at james@unitedwaylakeshore.org or (231) 332-4007. Let’s go #LiveUnited and change the world together!
