Day of Caring - Oceana

Join Us In Oceana For Our Day Of Caring On September 7th, 2019!

What is Day of Caring?

Day of Caring is a United Way of the Lakeshore tradition that brings hundreds of volunteers together for a single day of service. Companies, clubs, nonprofits, and families all gather together to make a HUGE impact on their community. Our volunteers show the true spirit of LIVING UNITED while they work side-by-side for a day of service!

Our Projects:

Veteran Home Repair-

Help us honor a local veteran in our community by cleaning up their yard and potentially working on some minor home repairs! Grab a shovel and a rake, roll up your sleeves, and transform their home into a safer and cleaner living environment!

Early Childhood Center-

For our ALICE families, childcare is one of the largest expenses in their budget. As the state regulations and compliances tighten, it is hard for our childcare providers who cater to families below the ALICE threshold (both ALICE & families in poverty) to continue to provide a reasonable rate for families and upgrade their spaces for the kids to grow and learn. On the Lakeshore, we are beginning to see a childcare desert due to inhome childcare providers not being able to make these repairs off of their wages. The early childhood center that we will be working on all cater to families who fall below the poverty line who need help freshing up their outdoor space. This project will be benefitting numerous children in our community and their development as they get older.

Food Truck-

Thanks to Shelby State Bank, there will be a food truck available to those in need on Day of Caring. The Shelby State Bank team is not only sponsoring the truck, but
sending a volunteer team to manage it as well! We could use 5-7 extra people in assisting with their project!
