Crisis Intervention

COVE’s Crisis Intervention—Domestic Violence program provides 24/7, trauma-informed support for survivors across Oceana County. Services include a confidential hotline; emergency shelter; an Oceana-based outreach advocate for safety planning, emotional support, and resource navigation; and legal advocacy for PPOs, custody, and court accompaniment. To remove barriers—especially in rural areas—we offer transportation assistance, ADA-accessible offices (including a Hart location), bilingual staff with interpreter access, and targeted outreach (e.g., migrant camps and community events). In the most recent reporting period, 100% of Oceana participants served developed a personalized safety plan and reported feeling supported and less isolated.

Why it supports United Way’s mission:
The program directly advances United Way of the Lakeshore’s Healthy Families/Domestic Violence priorities by increasing access to critical health, legal, and social services and enhancing safety for ALICE households who often lack the means to leave abuse. United Way funding sustains the local outreach office and advocate that meet survivors where they are, closing service gaps and stabilizing families. Amid unstable federal funding (e.g., VOCA reductions), this local investment keeps lifesaving crisis response and long-term supports available, helping families move from danger to safety—and our community from crisis to thriving.
