Every day, ALICE families and individuals across Michigan face tough choices—between food and rent, utilities and medicine. Before those challenges turn into crises, they need an easy way to connect with help. That’s where 2-1-1 comes in.
2-1-1 is a free, confidential service that connects people with thousands of local nonprofit, faith-based, and public resources to meet basic needs. Available 24/7 by phone or online, 2-1-1 helps people find food, housing, utility assistance, health care, mental health support, transportation, and more.
Last year, more than 500,000 Michigan residents turned to 2-1-1 for help—including nearly 41,000 calls and searches from Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana counties alone. That number keeps growing, as more people learn they don’t have to navigate tough times alone.
Michigan 2-1-1 is powered by seven regional contact centers that are nationally accredited and endorsed by Michigan AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems). While the statewide 2-1-1 network launched in 2002, these centers have decades of experience providing trusted, high-quality, and confidential support.
If you or someone you know needs help, dial 2-1-1 or visit www.mi211.org to search a database of more than 30,000 programs and services across the state. One call can open the door to hope.
