THE HOLIDAYS BY

VOLUNTEERING!

Halloween Trunk or Treat

The Lakeshore region—Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties—comes alive during the holiday season with tree lightings, parades, winter festivals, and neighborhood celebrations that showcase the heart of our community.

This year, we invite individuals, families, community groups, and workplace teams to help power the joy behind these cherished events. Whether you’re welcoming guests, supporting children’s activities, serving hot cocoa, or assisting with setup and cleanup, there’s a role for everyone—and your time makes all the difference.

Holiday volunteering is a wonderful way to:

  • Connect with your community while spreading cheer.

  • Give back while having fun and creating lasting memories.

  • Earn service hours for school, work, or personal goals.

  • Enjoy seasonal perks such as free admission or behind-the-scenes experiences at select events.

  • Share quality time with friends, coworkers, or loved ones in the spirit of giving.

  • Help distribute 10,000 lbs. of food in the Oceana community!

    Volunteers Needed:

Help us unload, sort, and distribute 10,000 lbs to families in need in our community. Mobile food pantries help meet the community from where they are and provide nutritious and healthy ingredients for family nourishment. You can make a difference by volunteering today! Volunteers help with the intake process of the families, help direct traffic, sort the trucks' goods, and help pack/distribute. The mobile food pantry will be open to the public beginning at 5 PM.

Volunteer Time Commitment: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

    Date(s): Friday, November 14, 2025 | Friday, December 19, 2025

Location: Shelby Elementary School (1285 S. Oceana Dr. 49455)

Thank you to the Oceana County Community Foundation for sponsoring these Feeding America Mobile Food Pantries!
