Women’s Leadership Network-Muskegon
In May, 2005, United Way of the Lakeshore launched a Women's Leadership Network. Any woman who gives $500 annually to United Way (or $1,000 with a spouse or partner) is considered a member of the Women’s Leadership Network.
Women's Leadership Network members have been increasing their awareness of poverty and its effects on women and children in the community, and have decided that mentoring is the best way to make a difference. Women's Leadership Network Holiday Home Tours in 2007 and 2008 raised significant money for United Way's Emergency Needs Fund for women and children. In July of 2009, an event at Hampton Green Farms also helped the Emergency Needs Fund. In 2010 Women's Leadership Network helped the Salvation Army with their annual Christmas campaign.
Women's Leadership Network meets six times per year. Two meetings are social and four are tours to United Way of the Lakeshore partner agencies to see the inner workings of these programs. A "Show & Tell" confirms the importance of Women Leaders.
One social event for 2011 was a bus trip to the Grand Rapids Art Museum for the Princess Di exhibition.
