Timeline

United Way of the Lakeshore operates a biennial community investment and review process. During year one, members of the Lakeshore Impact Council study needs and study issues relating to the Education, Income and Health impact areas. Volunteers review annual progress reports, study community needs data and plan.

In year two, volunteer panels review member agency program applications and recommend an amount to be invested per program. The co-chairs of each panel make up the Lakeshore Impact Council, which makes the funding recommendation to the board of directors.

In a funding year, volunteers typically go on agency site visits in February or March, review the applications in April and hear agency program presentations in May. Funding recommendations go to the United Way board in June. The funding for agencies operates on a July 1-June 30 year.
